The IAPSS Online Magazine "A Different View" editor’s team has the honor to announce an open call for articles for the 5th Issue for this academic calendar year 2010-2011.
The topic of the ADV June 2011 Issue is:
Was Justice Done? USA justice and the operative Geronimo.
On May 1st, 2011 the USA president, Barack Obama, announced by TV networks all over the world the death of the Al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama Bin Ladem, thanks to operative “Geronimo” in which a few members of US intelligent forces made the operative successful.
USA finally found the blank that was looking for since10 years ago. World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks can not go unpunished, the memoirs of the victims and the deep hurts of this country are looking for the deserved justice.
At “Time Square” people celebrate euphorically the event, under the sing of chauvinist chants like “U S A, U S A” and the motto “justice was done”, at the same time Barack Obama’s public image started rising since the announced of the first USA enemy’s murder. We can see a renewal nationalist feeling in US’ people.
Now, after the murder of this Iraq terrorist leader we must ask what we understand for justice. The death of a terrorist, without fair trial and without sentence can be considered fair enough? Violence ends with more violence? At the same time, appear many parallel theories and others conspiracy theories about the event.
This is, certainly, an important topic of nowadays. It generates controversy and allows us to participate in richest debates about the course of events. Can we point out that it is the beginning of a new period? If it is, is it of peace or of war?
To summarize, this issue aims to share different points of view about the recent events, looking for alternatives explanations about the past, the present and the future of this situation. Seeking for an answer and potentially resolution, we invite all students across the world to write about this issue.
