Call for Editors - 2023

IAPSS Politikon, the student and emerging scholars journal of the International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS), is seeking an Editor and two Book Review Editors to join our team. 

As an Editor, you will be responsible for overseeing the editorial process, ensuring the quality and consistency of all content, and developing new strategies for increasing readership and engagement.

As a Book Review Editor, you will be responsible for overseeing the review process for academic books related to political science and related fields. Our target is to solicit eight reviews every year.

The duration of IAPSS Politikon editor positions is one year. As with all IAPSS positions, IAPSS Politiknon Editors perform unpaid volunteer work. IAPSS Politiknon Editor must be members of IAPSS throughout their editorial collaboration.

What do editors do?

  • Develop and implement an editorial strategy that aligns with the goals and values of IAPSS and the mission of IAPSS Politikon.
  • Manage the editorial process, including commissioning and editing articles, overseeing the peer-review process, and maintaining the publication schedule.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of all content, with a keen eye for accuracy, style, and tone.
  • Build and maintain relationships with writers, reviewers, and other contributors, and provide guidance and feedback to help them develop their skills.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies for promoting IAPSS Politikon and increasing its readership, including social media, email marketing, and partnerships with other organizations.

Who are we looking for?

  • A PhD or MA student or an early career scholar in Political Science or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a record of publications in academic or popular outlets.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and experience using them to promote content.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A deep commitment to the goals and values of IAPSS, including promoting political science education and fostering international dialogue.
