Author Biography

Samuel de Brouwer, York University

Samuel de Brouwer is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Politics, specializing in Political Theory and International Relations, at York University, Toronto, Canada. His research interests include the history of Western social and political thought, contemporary French political theory, democratic theory, the postmodern debates, and the epistemology of social sciences. Samuel’s doctoral dissertation focuses on the relationship between democracy and the state, examining the contrasting perspectives of Marcel Gauchet and Miguel Abensour within the evolution of postwar political theory in France. Beyond contextual and textual components, his methodology also involves archival works and interviews with key figures.
