Call for Proposals: "Strange Political Bedfellows"

10 October 2025

We are inviting submissions for a special issue titled, "Strange Political Bedfellows". This special issue will be focused on cooperation between unlikely political allies and the circumstances that bring about such unusual alliances. We are interested in relevant phenomena from across the world and at all levels of politics—domestic and international.

Successful submissions may be invited to a most-expenses-paid in-person workshop in Berlin, Germany, on 8th and 9th April 2026.

Please send at least an extended abstract of 500 words by 19th December 2025 for full consideration. Longer and more developed submissions are encouraged.

Call for Contributions: Democracy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

1 October 2025

Our Conversations Section invites contributions for its November issue on Democracy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. The issue explores how democratic systems are adapting—or faltering—amid rapid AI advances. Scholars, activists, policy analysts, and practitioners are encouraged to submit original essays (up to 500 words) by 30 October. Submissions should address the guiding question: What is the most urgent challenge AI poses to democracy, and which democratic practice or institution is best equipped to address it? Notifications will be sent by 10 November. Contact Section Editor Marianna Prysiazhniuk at politikon.conversations@iapss.org to join this debate.
